šŸ‘ International Friendship Day šŸ‘¬

Updated: Apr 24, 2023

Grab your phone, jump on your bike, or fire up the Playstation for old timeā€™s sake, 30th July 2022 is International Friendship Day!

The day of the year where friends from all over the world show appreciation for one another and remind you why theyā€™re your very best bud. Whether you want to send a card, shoot over a text message, create a photo collage on Facebook, or go and see them in person, there is a way for everybody to celebrate International Friendship Day.

International Friendship Day was originally founded by Hallmark in 1919. It was intended to be a day for people to celebrate their friendship by sending each other cards, but by 1940 the market had dried up, and eventually, it died out completely. However, in 1998 Winnie the Pooh was named the worldā€™s Ambassador of Friendship at the United Nations (believe it or not!), and in April 2011, the United Nations officially recognized 30th July as International Friendship Day; although most countries celebrate on the first Sunday of August! Furthermore, with the rise of social media making us more connected than ever before, International Friendship Day hashtags give everyone the chance to get involved no matter where they are in the world.
